LIMITATION. Success.
Galling limitation must not be persevered in.

Creates number and measure,
And examines the nature of virtue and correct conduct.

Nine at the beginning means:
Not going out of the door and the courtyard
Is without blame.
Nine in the second place means:
Not going out of the gate and the courtyard
Brings misfortune.
Six in the third place means:
He who knows no limitation
Will have cause to lament.
No blame.
Six in the fourth place means:
Contented limitation. Success.
Nine in the fifth place means:
Sweet limitation brings good fortune.
Going brings esteem.
Six at the top means:
Galling limitation.
Perseverance brings misfortune.
Remorse disappears.

Explanation of the entire figure by king Wăn
Kieh intimates that (under its conditions) there will be progress and attainment.
(But) if the regulations (which it prescribes) be severe and difficult, they cannot be permanent.
Explanation of the separate lines by the duke of Kâu
The first NINE, undivided,
The first NINE, undivided, shows its subject not
quitting the courtyard outside his door. There will be no error.
The second NINE, undivided,
shows its subject not quitting the courtyard inside his gate. There will be evil.
The third SIX, divided,
shows its subject with no appearance of observing the (proper) regulations, in which case we shall see him lamenting.
But there will be no one to blame (but himself).
The fourth SIX, divided,
shows its subject quietly and naturally (attentive to all) regulations.
There will be progress and success.
The fifth NINE, undivided,
shows its subject sweetly and acceptably enacting his regulations. There will be good fortune.
The onward progress with them will afford ground for admiration.
The topmost SIX, divided,
shows its subject enacting regulations severe and difficult. Even with firmness and correctness there will be evil.
But though there will be cause for repentance, it will (by and by) disappear.
